Winner is:   BOUNDARY ELECTRIC (1985) LTD.

          Sharon Docksteader and her team are always ready and willing to support community events, donating time, (employee David Evdokimoff volunteers on the Board of Directors), expertise and involvement that included the wonderful parade entry “WHOVILLE” from “How the Grinche Stole Christmas” in the first Santa’s Workshop Parade held last November.  Their entry was the result of employee participation and a reflection what can be achieved when you involve business and family in the community.

Plant Manager Peter Regenberg and his team are committed to providing safe non-invasive type insulation using environmental friendly materials. Roxul is a business that has shown to be a strong and successful employer.  Future plans look to expansion and  upgrading their plant to be more environmentally conscientious.

Tourism Excellence Award

Winner is:  Spencer Hill Orchard and Gallery

Shelia Dobie is instrumental in the Agri Tourism innovative in the Boundary Area.  She spearheaded a community meeting to get local agri-tourism participants on board to promote the Boundary area as a tourist destination.  Shelia has hosted various events at Spencer Hill Orchard.  The Apple Festival was a great success with over 200 attendees.

Winner is:  Starshine Creations

Christina is constantly finding and creating new aspects to her business, Halloween costume rentals, gingerbread house contest are perfect examples of her creativity and finding an “out of the box” niche.  Christina is also very active in her Wedding consulting as she is involved in putting on the “Elegant Graduation and Bridal Fair” at the Seniors Centre at City Park on  Saturday, February 9th 10:00 – 4:30.

Morrissey Creek was nominated numerous times by their loyal customers citing many times that they provide great, professional service, reasonable prices and knowledgeable, friendly and experienced staff that go the extra mile. Morrissey Creek has been a long standing presence in our community providing employment opportunities for local residents.

Gus Barry – Gus has been very busy since his move to Grand Forks.  He has started the Over 45 Club, signed up over 15 members, arranged to have two pool tables set up at the Senior Hall and organizes the weekly Thursday Pool tournament.  Gus is now pursuing getting a big screen for the senior center.  Gus has set an example of what drive and determination can do, at any age.

Darla Ashton – Hardworking!   Dedicated!   A Champion for the Underdog!   A community supporter with spirit!   Timeless dedication!  This is who Darla is! These are some of the words that are used to describe Darla.  Moreover, at work and throughout the community, Darla is a champion.


Customer’s Choice Award – Employee of the year

Ruth Doerr – This is the first year the Chamber has sponsored this award.  The chamber wanted to honor our everyday workers.  Ruth has shown this in many ways with her pleasant smile, hospitable and caring manner, her sharing of local history with tourists,  and by being a great co-worker.  Ruth truly is an “Ambassador of Grand Forks”
